Marathon with Tomato
The story about Tomato. Do you know few farmers grow tomato in outside? Most of tomatoes we can buy from supermarket are grown in greenhouse (so called vinyl house in Japan). Why? it’s very interesting story.
Tomato’s goal is not eaten by human being but success the species. It means tomato drop seeds on the ground.
How the seeds reach at the ground? Tomato tree has a unique method. They blow up their fruits to send much water into the ripe tomato when the rainy day. Then the peel splits easily, the inside seeds go out or drop on the ground. It’s amazing survival method! The split tomato also goes bad easily, but seeds covered a hard peel/outside, only seeds can survive.
Oh, let’s return to the reason why only greenhouse. So now you can understand why no tomato grows outside. We try to pick up ripe tomato before the split everyday. It’s like a marathon against tomato. Both are different goal although, we feel like run with tomato in the summer.
